We are currently seeking an experienced Radiation Safety Officer to fill a position within the GMS Team. The position is a full-time role, and with the possible expansion of National coverage (to our other sites) this presents the candidate significant potential for both professional and career development, as well as excellent remuneration.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
* Management/Coordination of Radiation Safety requirements (as per RSM and SOP/Policies) are met.
* Maintenance of the Radiation Safety Manual in accordance with State specific requirements in a timely manner
* Reporting of KPIs to Senior Management
* Lead participation in regulatory audits (e.g. NSW EPA)
* Some minor project management work as required
* Oversight of dosimetry services
* Management of Radiation Incidents and Customer Inquiries
Prior Experience/Qualification:
* Hold minimum qualification of a qualified medical physicist or science related equivalent
* Minimum of 2 years’ full time experience as a certified Radiation Safety Officer
Mandatory Requirements:

* Working knowledge of NSW radiation control legislation
* Working knowledge of RSM requirements
* Ability to research and resolve a wide range of diverse technical issues using project management techniques
* Working knowledge of SOPs
* Sound written and verbal communication skills required
* Ability to work as part of a team
* Proven attention to detail
Desirable Requirements
* Compounding pharmacy knowledge, specifically Radio-pharmacy
* Sterile manufacturing experience
* Nuclear Medicine knowledge
* Previously employed in a supervisory role within regulated industry (e.g. pharmaceuticals).

Job vacancies: Radiation Health & Safety Advisory Council



The Radiation Health and Safety Advisory Council is an advisory body established under the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Act 1998. The role of the Council is to identify emerging issues relating to radiation protection and nuclear safety, including matters of major concern to the community, and to advise the CEO of the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency on those matters.

Members of Council are part-time appointments for a period of up to three years, made by the Assistant Minister for Rural Health following consultation with the CEO of ARPANSA. The current term of two Council members expires on 31 March 2017. Members receive sitting fees, as determined by the Remuneration Tribunal.

The Council requires a diverse membership to reflect the statutory responsibilities of the Council.

The APPC-AIP Congress 2016 ie. the joint APPC Asia Pacific Physics Conference and AIP Australian Institute of Physics Congress in conjunction with the AAPPS Association of Asia Pacific Physical Societies and the AOS Australian Optical Society invites applications for AIP-APCTP International Travel Awards.

Significant funding for this initiative has been provided by the Australian Institute of Physics and the Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics .

These travel grants are aimed at supporting students / early-career delegates from outside Australia to present their research at the APPC-AIP Congress in Brisbane (during the 4th-8th December 2016).

The closing date for Travel Award applications and their abstracts is Monday 15th August 2016.
