About the opportunity

As Australia’s newest uranium producer, we’re growing and looking for an experienced Environment and Radiation Advisor (ER) join our ER team at the Honeymoon mine site in South Australia.

Reporting to the Environment & Radiation (ER) Superintendent, you’ll oversee the completion of environmental and radiation monitoring and management requirements, ensuring compliance with regulatory and non-regulatory standards.

In addition, you’ll proactively report and mitigate risks related to environmental and radiation hazards and support the entire operations team showing leadership by providing expertise, guidance and training, to support a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible mining operation.

Radiation experience is experience is essential.

The role will be FIFO from the Adelaide charter terminal or Port Augusta, direct to site on an 8:6 roster.  (We may consider other rosters.)

In terms of specific responsibilities, you will:

  • Complete inspections to identify, monitor and manage environmental risks and ensure compliance with EPA licences, legislation, regulatory approvals and internal procedures. 
  • Assist with timely review and management of all environmental and radiation hazards and incidents.
  • Complete environmental monitoring, analysis and reporting, as detailed in the PEPR.
  • Complete radiation monitoring, analysis and reporting as per the site Radiation Management Plan and Radioactive Waste Management Plan.
  • Assist in managing the environmental and radiation database, including entering field data and external data reports, QA/QC checks, and assessments against compliance limits.
  • Immediately raise and appropriately manage regulatory compliance breaches and/or internal action or investigation level breaches.

About You

What you’ll need:

  • A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or related field.
  • Significant experience in environmental and radiation monitoring in mining.
  • Sound knowledge of environmental and radiation legislation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse and troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to develop positive working relationships.
  • Proficiency with monitoring equipment and software.
  • A willingness to work in remote locations and flexible hours.
  • A strong focus on and commitment to working safely.

While not essential, Radiation Safety Officer Training and proficiency with GIS will be highly regarded.
