ARPANSA Webinar on the Draft Guide for Exemption and Clearance of Radioactive Material

This guide is directed to those people and organisations dealing with controlled radioactive materials and items, and the Commonwealth, State and Territory authorities regulating those practices. The webinar will talk through the purpose and planned content of the draft guide, and offer you an opportunity to provide your thoughts on the draft.

 Among other topics, this guide will cover:

• assessment of if regulatory control of materials and items that present a relatively low risk of radiation exposure is appropriate
• determining if regulatory control of a radioactive substance is necessary
• identifying the materials and items that are not amenable to regulatory control
• recommendations for the calculation of exemption and clearance levels for radioactive materials
• relevant Australian scenarios (with reference to international best practice methods and including examples).
