Ideal candidates
You will have specialist skills, experience and qualifications in disciplines relevant to the management of radioactive waste. You will have a comprehensive knowledge and track record of managing and delivering radioactive waste management processes, practices and projects including but not limited to:
- Radioactive waste disposal licencing delivery, integration and optimisation
- Radioactive waste policy and program development/implementation
- Developing and implementing waste acceptance criteria
- Safe transport of waste
- Safety, security and environmental protection, including regulatory experience and management
- Safety and operations planning for disposal facilities
- Waste Technical specialists
- Radiological and Environmental Safety Case specialists
- Project management of waste projects across the lifecycle from generation through to disposal

The Roles
We are seeking expressions of interest from individuals, within and outside of Australia, who are interested in joining ARWA and playing a key role in building Australia’s nuclear capability and expertise. There are opportunities over the coming 6-12 months, and ARWA is also looking ahead and planning for the longer term. Roles, employment type and remuneration will be commensurate with the skills and experience you bring.
Broadly, roles are available for technical specialists, program/project and senior/middle managers and will align with the Executive Level 1, Executive Level 2 and/or APS6 classification levels in the Australian Public Service structure.
Candidates assessed as having relevant skills and experience through this expression of interest process will initially be placed on a register. You may be invited for an informal discussion to talk through opportunities, based on our operational needs, as ARWA grows in the months ahead. A formal interview process would then be required as appropriate.
Roles may be offered as permanent or temporary public service roles or on a contract basis.
